Gage Shorten, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Shorten studied biology at the University of Louisiana Lafayette and received his doctorate from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2022. In school, Dr. Shorten tracked to be a mixed animal veterinarian. During his time in grad school, he was the vice president of the LSU SVM theriogenology club, was a member of the LSU SVM palpation team, who took the title of reserve champions at the 2021 SAVMA conference, and worked after hours as a live-in in the LSU veterinary hospital. Dr. Shorten is passionate about veterinary surgery, as well as theriogenology.
After graduation, Dr. Shorten spent two years practicing mixed animal medicine in Texas before deciding to pursue a career in strictly small animal medicine. He found his home here Polo Springs Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Shorten has a passion for all aspects of small animal medicine, especially surgery, but still has a soft spot for horses and cattle. In his time away from work Dr. Shorten enjoys going backpacking, riding bikes and taking his dogs, Opie and Lulu, for hikes.
We are thrilled to have Dr. Shorten on our team! He is seeing new clients for all of your pet's veterinary needs.
